Web standards

All content creators have a responsibility to ensure that their content is accessible to those with disabilities and is aligned with the University’s agreed web standards.

Site visitors with disabilities may use a range of assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers or screen magnifiers) to read web pages, and our websites must make allowance for this (e.g. alt. text on images).

Published standards exist in this area, to which the University will adhere.

Any materials that are exclusively delivered online need to be made accessible to all, to ensure that the University is fully compliant with World Wide Web Consortium Web Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the Equality Act 2010

External Relations and AccessAbility are both able to provide general advice and support in this area. Major accessibility/standards issues will be resolved by IT Services through the content management system.
