Managing portlets assigned to a homepage (or default view)

If you create a portlet on a page, and then make that page the default view for the container (that is, the default view for the folder the page is in),  you cannot access any portlets on that page directly. To edit or remove the portlet, you have two options:

Access the manage portlets interface directly

You can directly access the manage portlets option for a problem page by using the URL of the page to be edited and adding /@@manage-portlets to the end of the URL.
While the page containing the portlet is displayed in Plone (and you are logged in):

1. Select 'Contents' from the Plone menu

2. Select the page to edit

3. Once the page has loaded, go to the browser address bar where the URL of the page is now displayed and append /@@manage-portlets to the end of the URL.  This will take you to the portlet management area for that page, and you will be able to see and edit the portlet.)
N.B If the URL ends in  /document_view or /edit, remove that text before adding /@@manage-portlets

Revert the view status of the containing folder while you edit the file

With this method, you will revert the view status of the containing folder to 'standard view' while you edit the page, and then make the page the 'default view' again.

While the page containing the portlet is displayed in Plone (and you are logged in):

1. Select "Display" from the secondary Plone menu.

2. Select "Standard View" (this will remove the page from being the default view of the folder)

3. Go into Manage Portlets. You'll now see the portlet and can delete it

4. Go back to the page and select "Display" from the secondary Plone menu

5. Select "Select a content item as default view"

6. Click the radio button beside the page you want to be the default view (this resets the page to be the default view of the folder again)

While you're doing this, anyone visiting the folder will briefly see the contents page displayed instead of the default page, but only until you reinstate the edited page as default view.
