I have a disability, learning difficulty or long term condition and need study support

The AccessAbility Centre provides support and practical help if you have a specific learning difficulty, disabilities, and long term conditions, including mental health issues. They can also help with Disabled Students’ Allowance or arranging alternative exam arrangements.

I need general academic advice or support

Your personal tutor

Your personal tutor can provide help and advice about your studies by discussing your study skills, helping you to understand assignment feedback, turning it into actionable goals, and helping you find additional resources such as books and articles. To make the most of your sessions, see our guide to using your tutor effectively.

Your department

Your department can help with academic queries, including mitigating circumstances or course information. If you are unable to attend a class, tell your department/school office or your personal tutor straightaway.

Education Unit

We have trained advisors provide guidance on a range of academic issues, if you are worried about your studies or course.

Library

We offer a range of services for you. Book a Librarian for help with finding information, literature searching, using subject databases, referencing and using bibliographic software.  Our drop-in Mathematics Help Centre offers support in understanding and working through maths and statistics related content. The Help Centre is open from 3.00pm to 6.00pm on the ground floor of the Library and  is open to all students.

Your peer mentor

If you are in your first year, you will have been allocated a peer mentor (unless you have opted out) who can listen to your concerns and provide informal support.
