Chinese New Year celebrates the start of the lunar new year and is the most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. Join us for our celebrations on campus on Tuesday 5 February, as we welcome in the Year of the Pig. There will be stalls offering Chinese food and tea, arts and craft workshops, freebies and performances throughout the day.

Some of the activities you can get involved in are:

  • Write your Well Wishes
  • Find out your Zodiac Animal
  • Shuttlecock Kicking
  • Calligraphy, Paper Cutting and Lantern Making

As well as the stilt walkers from Enter Edem who will be on campus throughout the day, we will also be hosting performers:

  • Lion Dance, 12.00pm & 5.00pm
  • Traditional Chinese Musical Performance, 1.00pm

You don't need to book, just come and join us on Centenary Square for a day of food, culture and celebration! For more free events like this, including our upcoming LGBT+ History Month and International Women's Day events, visit
