A team of researchers led by Dr Jay Farihi from our Department of Physics and Astronomy have demonstrated that rocky planets are common in the galaxy. Not by finding any actual planets, but by looking for their remains: a sort of interstellar archaeology.

A University of Leicester geologist and colleagues have described a new species of prehistoric crustacean, working from a 5mm-long fossil so well-preserved that they could even identify the sensory organ sticking out of its middle eye.
