Our first 100 years

The University is dressed, the sparkulars are ready and the stage is set. Join us in Centenary Square at 12pm next Wednesday 1 September as we officially launch the start of our Centenary celebrations and our first one hundred years of making an impact on the world.

100 years of change
You may have seen the banners on University road, the black and gold glistening on the walls of the Charles Wilson building as you walk up Mayor’s Walk and the banners dotted around campus proudly displaying the words ‘100 years of change’. 2021 marks 100 years since the then University College Leicester opened its doors to the world, with a community consisting of one principal, three lecturers and eleven students. 2021 marks 100 years of building better futures through teaching, research and community collaboration.

1 September launch event
Join us in Centenary Square on Wednesday 1 September at 12pm, as the VC says a few words about our University and its first 100 years to mark the start of our celebrations. The short event will be the perfect chance to meet up with colleagues on campus, mark a landmark occasion in our University’s history and enjoy lunchtime festivities. But don’t worry if you can’t make it, the event will be live streamed on Facebook so that staff and students across the world can join in.

We hope to see you there.
