As Varsity kicks off this week, there’s a special match on Friday night where cross town rivalry will be prominently on display.

This Friday 17 March, the Vice-Chancellors of DMU and Leicester will go head to head captaining their staff teams in a display of football prowess.

The match is the highlight of a night of entertainment and support for both university’s international staff and students hosted by DMU at Beaumont Park. So you can get behind Team Leicester we’re providing transport and a bonus Leicester scarf to the first 20 people to sign up.

The bus is due to leave at 6.30pm from the main campus (entrance 1 near the security lodge), ready for a 7.30pm kick-off and will return by 10pm at the latest.

Professor Paul Boyle said: “As Vice-Chancellor of a University that welcomes thousands of international students from far flung areas of the world I am delighted to support this initiative. I look forward to pitting our team against Dominic’s and hope that is one of the first in a long line of inter-University staff sports events.”

Let’s get behind Leicester University and show our support for our team, which features colleagues drawn from across the University. There will be food and drink (including a BBQ) available at the ground.
