Support world mental health day with Leicester Talks

This Tuesday 10 October, people all around the globe will be celebrating and encouraging positive mental health so come and join in the celebrations.

Visit the Students’ Union (SU) Queens Hall foyer between 11am and 3pm and get involved with activities, help us raise awareness and pick up tips on supporting yourself and others.

Leicester Talks is one of the many services provided to help students get the support they need and to help improve their mental health. It is an online list of support services, including University, SU, Student-led and Community services.

You can visit the Leicstalk information pages which have clear information on the type of support available for different areas of need eg, from emotional and wellbeing to academic support. Click here to see the overview of these services and the areas they support.

The SU Support Services including weekly term-time drop-in sessions (with mental and sexual health support featured) are listed in the timetable online. This term two new sessions have been introduced:

Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)

Who provides co-ordinated sexual and domestic violence advice to anyone who has experienced this at any time (i.e. recently or historically).

  • The drop-in session runs on Thursdays from 10.30am-1.30pm, from the Education Unit in the SU.

Those that can’t attend can either contact the ISVA directly on 07714134042 Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, or call the helpline at any time on 0116 2733 330.

Safe Space

A one-to-one confidential listening and signposting service for students who would like guidance on which services can help them.

  • The drop-in session runs on Fridays from 11am-1pm from the Education Unit, SU.
