SU News: Student Voice - why not use yours?

Voice your opinions and help shape the future of student life.

As a member of your Students' Union, there are a number of ways by which you can voice your opinions and help shape the future of student life at the University of Leicester.

These include getting involved in Executive Elections - either by running as a candidate or by voting for one. You have until 3pm on Friday 9 February to nominate yourself.

You can also have a real say in the teaching and learning experience that you receive as a student at Leicester by becoming a Course Representative, you can read more about that here.

Another way to suggest change is via our Change it or Explain it process.

As your Union, we can take these suggestions to those relevant departments at the University and try our best to make these happen. We like to call these Union Wins, and below are some examples of how we have helped make your ideas a reality.

  • Timetabling challenges addressed and resolved
  • Funding secured for black history month celebration and Liberated campaign work
  • Secured more seating in the Union building and opened two new study rooms
  • Lobbied for the wider introduction of Panopto
  • Launched club showcase to boost the profile of Team Leicester students
  • Expanded the Drinkaware Crew on campus
  • Expanded the Peer Mentoring programme, ensuring students are given the best possible support
  • Expanding Union advice support to offer more guidance for student accommodation issues
  • Expanding Union activities to offer more support for student volunteering and fundraising

Do you have any questions or want to get in touch about something? Have a look at our website, drop us an email or feel free to pay us a visit in the Student Hub, Level 1, Percy Gee Building. (We are open 10am-4pm Monday – Friday.)
