Do you want the chance to take part in a summer school which aims to harness student diversity to enhance the academic student experience?

The University of Leicester is one of a group of eight leading universities participating in a project to explore the ways in which student diversity can be harnessed to enhance the academic student experience. Three places are available for University of Leicester students to take part in the University Student Workshop and Summer School, which is being held at the University from the 29 to 31 August.

Groups of students from each university will work with university senior managers and professional facilitators to develop a vision for the future of the student experience at campus-based universities like ours, and to put together a plan for change to deliver this vision. This is an opportunity for you to develop skills in team-working, critical analysis and future horizon scanning, facilitated by a professional team of university managers and futures consultants. It will also give you the chance to help shape the discussions about what higher education should look like over the coming years. Involvement in this high-profile national initiative will be an excellent opportunity for you to experience strategic planning and strengthen your CV.

The outcome of the event will be a report and plan of action that will help guide the development of universities across the higher education sector in Britain.

Accommodation, food and standard UK travel expenses of participating students will be covered.

If you would like to express interest in being involved in this project, and can be sure of your availability on the workshop days, please submit the following to Professor Jon Scott (  by 5pm on Friday 1 June:

  1. An e-mail confirming that you would be able to attend on 29 to 31 August inclusive;
  2. A statement of up to 300-words explaining why you would be able to contribute to, and benefit from, the project
  3. A one-page CV

Students will be selected on the basis of their CV and their 300-word statement.
