The event below with Professor Bo Chen has been postponed until further notice. A further announcement will be made once a revised date has been confirmed.
The third lecture of the series:
Monday 2 March, 5.30 - 7.30pm
Lecture: High temperature creep and fatigue failure of high-integrity structures: lessons learned and future perspectives
Lecturer: Professor Bo Chen
Location: George Davies Centre, Lecture Theatre 2
Heat engine is a system that turns the heat into mechanical power (e.g. jet engines and power plants). Increasing operating temperature increases their thermal efficiency, but is limited by the material that is central to the safe operation of high-integrity structures. This lecture considers the interrelationship between materials processing, properties and performance of both traditional and additive manufactured ones with the emphasises on high temperature structural integrity.
