New ‘One Stop’ Student-Facing Services for 2021/22: Student and Library Information Services

Your new ‘one stop’ physical and virtual information desk

A new integrated customer service team called Student and Library Information Services has been set up to provide a ‘one stop’ physical and virtual information desk for all student services and support. This includes online, telephone and other virtual support and enquiries, and physical information desk support.

Student and Library Information Services is now the ‘one stop’ physical and virtual information desk for:

  • All library-user services and support, including library access, borrowing queries, booking facilities and using the David Wilson Library.
  • All student services and support previously provided by the Student Services Centre, including student ID cards, fee and finance enquiries, visas and ID checks, requesting letters and other documents, enquiries and appointment booking and check-in for student welfare, careers, and visa and immigration support, and check-in for student counselling and wellbeing appointments.

Benefits of the new service

Benefits of the new service for students will be:

  • Extended service opening hours - more services will be available for extended hours (8.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Friday in the David Wilson Library), so you will be able to have your query dealt with more promptly.
  • Extended staffed Library opening hours - Student and Library Information Services desk in the David Wilson Library staffed on Saturdays and Sundays 9.00am to 5.00pm.
  • One stop service – you will be able to have your query resolved ‘one stop’ more often - for example, you will now be able to get a replacement student ID card from both the Library and the Percy Gee during staffed hours.
  • Improved access to services wherever you are – you will be able to access support whether on campus or remotely, for example using online chat, and increased digital self-service provision.

Locations and opening hours

Student and Library Information Services will operate two physical information desks from 1 September 2021:

  • In the David Wilson Library, ground floor reception, open 8.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 5.00pm Saturday and Sunday
  • In the Percy Gee Building, 2nd floor, open 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
