Posted by bv39 at Feb 25, 2020 11:55 AM |
Leicester alumni Craig Maxwell-Keys will discuss career change from STEM to sport and the experience of what it’s like to come out in sport.

The event takes place on Wednesday 26 February, 6.30 - 8.30pm at Bennett Lecture Theatre 2, Bennett Building.

Over the years, rugby has seen a number of players and referees come out as LGBTQ+ - including Keegan Hirst, Ian Roberts, Gareth Thomas, and Nigel Owens - as well as Craig Maxwell-Keys. One of the Gallagher Premiership’s top referees, he has taken charge of matches at the World Rugby Under-20 Championship, European Challenge Cup, and the Army Navy Match (part of the Inter-Services Competition). His talk at the University of Leicester will cover both post-Chemistry and sport related elements, including a career change from a STEM field to sport and the experience of what it’s like to come out in Premiership Rugby.
