We're pleased to announce that we were announced as winners earlier this month.

The University of Leicester was recognised at the prestigious TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards in London on Thursday 4 April, winning Best University Employability Strategy.

The award acknowledged the progress made by the University in developing and embedding the Leicester Award Programme and work experience opportunities within undergraduate degree programmes, thereby ensuring our students engage with career development education and have the opportunity to apply their university experience to real world contexts.

The award was judged by a panel of graduate recruitment and development professionals from a range of employers and organisations, and had a total of 26 submissions before being shortlisted down to 10 for the awards ceremony.

Our strategy has been developed in conjunction with our critical friends group made up of representatives from the Institute of Student Employers, leading public and private sector organisations and experts in learning and development to ensure the University is effectively preparing students for graduate success after university.

Rob Fryer, Director of Student Life, said: “We are proud to share this exciting news as it highlights the pioneering approach Leicester has taken towards employability with its students and recent graduates. Our Leicester Award Programme ensures all students will have the opportunity to engage in professional development and significant work experience that supports them to secure postgraduate study or graduate employment after University.”
