Leicester Town and Gown 10k

Student volunteers at last year's race

For just £16 you can join the Leicester Town and Gown 10k on Sunday March 4. The course is a three-loop route incorporating both Victoria Park and the University of Leicester campus.

Leicester Town and Gown 10k is in its second year and last year raised £150,000 to fight muscle-wasting conditions and fund exciting new treatments. The race is already popular with running groups who are attracted by the professional set-up and chip timing.

Many of the runners have a connection to someone with muscular dystrophy. However, we encourage everyone to take part and raise awareness and funds to help the 70,000 people in the country with muscle-wasting conditions. Everyone is encouraged to wear orange, and particularly fancy dress.

Runners will receive a goody bag with a medal, finisher t-shirt and some free product samples and if you give your mobile number you will receive a SMS with your chip time shortly after they finish and have your time posted on the website.

The Muscular Dystrophy Society’s Honorary Life President is the late Richard Attenborough, who grew up on the University of Leicester campus, and raised huge amounts of money for research. The Attenborough family continue to be heavily involved in their work.

You can sign up here and join our University of Leicester team, we have a competition with De Montfort University to see who can get the most runners on the day.
