Help tackle social isolation and loneliness – volunteering opportunity

Our new Health Matters campaign launching focuses on healthy ageing and mental wellbeing, with a big focus on tackling social isolation and loneliness amongst Leicester’s community.

How can you get involved?
1. Take part in our pottery classes
In collaboration with Leicester Ageing Together, we are organising pottery classes for the elderly. We are looking for a few students who would like to come along and help the artist Jo Keogh to deliver the sessions in her studio in the Makers Yard.

2. Take part in our intergenerational dance workshops
Louise Katerega is leading on ‘KinNected: A cross-generational dance series celebrating the human family’. These workshops are all about being social, connecting with people, self-expression, and a lot of fun!

3. Help at one of our monthly or one-off events
Help to deliver a monthly workshop in the Botanic Gardens filled with yoga and creative writing and drawing workshops.

4. Develop your own idea
We are open to suggestions. If you have an idea how to help reduce social isolation and loneliness in Leicester, let us know and we can see how we can support this!
If you are interested in getting involved with any of the above-mentioned activities and projects, please get in touch with Karolin Kroese.

More info on the project as a whole, our health campaigns, and programme of events and activities can be found at www.le.ac.uk/health-matters or on our Facebook page @healthmattersevents.
