This week we are welcoming and welcoming back the majority of our students onto campus.

These first few weeks are really important, and knowing where to go and what to do is really important, so we’ve put together a list of what’s going on and where to find the help you need.

Starting @Leicester

You should have already completed your online registration, and we have a dedicated team on campus who will help you get started. Starting @Leicester are offering help, advice and support from the Student Services Zone in the Fielding Johnson Building. Visit our new student pages to find out all the information you need.

A few changes

You may have noticed our new logo on the website. This ties in with the launch of our Strategic Plan, which you can read about here. This plan has been shaped by our students and staff and sets out a bold new vision for the future of the University.

The Students’ Union

The SU have a huge range of activities running throughout the week. Fresh Fair runs from Monday to Friday and you’ll be able to join societies and sports teams and get loads of freebies! Fresh Festival runs for is a fortnight and concludes with the Freshers’ Ball on 11 October. One wristband will get you into every event and save you cash! Get yours now!

Join a sports team or society

Almost everyone is involved with the Union in some way, even if it’s just by joining one of the SU societies. There are more than 180 of them, so you’re bound to find on that you’re interested in. Become part of Team Leicester, with 30 sports clubs ranging from football and rugby to archery and lacrosse. There are also top gym facilities on campus and in Oadby (halls).

Union Food Market

Check out the new Union Food Market in the Students’ Union. With street food, a pop-up café and live music nearly every day, be the first to experience this great new place.

What’s on?

Take a look at the Freshers’ map to navigate our great campus and see a timetable of SU activities throughout Freshers’ Week.

We are HeForShe

On Tuesday 29 September we officially launch an exciting new campaign. The University has been chosen as one of only ten around the world to take bold action on gender equality as a UN HeForShe Impact Champion. At 11am UN representatives will bring their bus tour to the campus, and there is also an event in the Peter Williams lecture theatre in the Fielding Johnson Building at 1pm. You can make your HeForShe commitment on our website, or at Fresh Fair on Monday and Tuesday.
