Escape Room Challenge: student designers and players wanted!

The perfect opportunity if you've ever wanted to design your own escape room.

Escape Rooms have become a hugely popular group activity of late. With teams working together to solve puzzles, open safes and locked doors in order to escape a room within a set time limit. They are great for testing and developing problem solving, teamwork and many other skills. They're also very, very fun!

Open to all students, this is an exciting opportunity for you to learn how to design your own escape room. If your room is selected by a panel of judges it will run at an international conference this July!

You can sign up as a group of friends, or as an individual (we'll connect you to others to form a team). You just need to decide a theme for the room based on one of our 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

You'll need to:

  • Be available to attend a (free) escape room experience on the afternoon of March 14th or March 22nd.
  • Work as a team to create your escape room over March, April and May.

In return, we'll provide you with:

  • A free professional escape room game
  • A puzzle design workshop, where you'll learn game design techniques
  • A room on campus, and a set of locks/boxes/safes etc. where you can create and test your room

If selected, you'll also get free travel and a free place to the July Playful Learning Conference.

Sign up before Tuesday 12 March to get involved!
