Help scientists to understand coronavirus

Tracking the symptoms of COVID-19 and those who may or may not have experienced it has been widely discussed. It’s thought that it could be part of the answer to the UK’s exit strategy from the coronavirus pandemic.

Tim Spector, Professor of Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College London, has developed an app which invites individuals to check-in and report their symptoms, or not, each day. He has described it as a ‘citizen science success story’ which millions of people are updating daily. He’s said that by gathering this data and its patterns, it will allow the Government to decide when to relax lockdown restrictions.

The app is designed to contribute to advance vital research into COVID-19. It is used to study the symptoms of the virus and track how it spreads.

Once you’ve downloaded the COVID-19 Symptom Tracker app, it takes just two minutes to update. Find out all you need to know about the app and how it works online.
