Moving out? Donate your leftover food to support those in need in Leicester and Calais.

Are you moving out of your student accommodation, but don’t know what to do with your leftover food? The Students’ Union has created a food donation point with items going to a food bank in Leicester and refugee camps in Calais.

To support this cause, bring along your items to the food market in the Union by Monday 4 July. All food needs to be in-date, non-perishable and unopened.

The following items will be sent to Calais, with other items taken to the local food bank:

  • Baby food pouches (non-meat)
  • Baby milk bottles and cartons
  • Bulgur wheat
  • Cartons of fruit juice
  • Cereal bars
  • Chilli
  • Chocolate spread
  • Cinnamon
  • Clear Honey (jar)
  • Digestive biscuits
  • Dried fruit
  • Fruit squash
  • Garlic paste
  • Ghee
  • Mixed grains – barley
  • Pasta
  • Peanut butter
  • Pickled goods
  • Red/Green lentils
  • Rice
  • Tea
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tinned vegetables, puddings, fish
  • Unsalted mixed nuts and raisins
  • Vegetable oil
  • Weetabix/porridge including instant porridge/cereals
  • Whole long-life milk
