The City Nature Challenge 2019 (26-29 April)

Take part in a global competition to help Leicester record as many species of wildlife as possible.

Between the 26th and 29th April we're partnering with Leicester City Council and the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust for the GLOBAL City Nature Challenge.

We want you to take part by documenting nature and wildlife in Leicester. This can be achieved by photographing what you've spotted or by jotting down a certain species of flower/plant/animal. We recommend using the iNaturalist app.

The more recordings we get, the more insights we'll have into Leicester’s wildlife. This will be used for future research and gives us a chance of winning the competition and declaring Leicester officially the wildest place on Earth!.

You don't have to be knowledgeable in wildlife or biodiversity to take part. Just take note of the wildlife around you, whether that’s on your morning commute or a weekend walk through the botanical gardens. We've compiled a list of 'wildlife hot spots' which can be found at the link on the bottom of this page.

There will be a photography competition - we want you to send images of wildlife you find on campus to us. Winners will be featured on social media and displayed on campus at the end of the year. Please submit these to via social media using #citynaturechallengeleicesteruniversity or email: socialimpact@le.ac.uk.
