Get yourself to Richard III Centre on Sunday evening.

2018 marked the 100 year anniversary of Women’s suffrage in achieving the right to vote. One of the leading English suffragette’s of the day was Leicester’s Alice Hawkins – a committed shoe machinist whose efforts were integral to the movement. Her dedication in achieving equality remains renowned even a century later. It'll be the inspiration for a light show taking place in Leicester city centre on Sunday evening.

The 30-minute show, organised by Shared Space & Light – the company behind the Lighting of the Torch ceremony at the 2012 Paralympic Games – will transform the city’s new market square into a stunning video-mapped image. Light effects, archive footage and a bespoke soundtrack will combine with live performance to create visuals highlighting Alice’s achievements and her inspirational life.

The event is free to attend and will take place Sunday 3 March at 6.30pm, 7.45pm and 9pm on New Market Square in Leicester City Centre.
