participate in an Instagram Live Cartoonathon for a chance to win £50!

Calling students aged 15-25 from all courses to participate in an Instagram Live Cartoonathon running throughout November, and a chance to win £50!

Whether you are familiar with or new to political cartoons, you are invited to join discussion surrounding topical issues such as the environment, inequalities, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Join @Shoutout_UK on Instagram Lives throughout November where a selection of posts, stories and live drawing will be presented. Participate in the Cartoonathon by sharing thoughts about the artwork on Instagram and submitting your own cartoons to a competition. There will be a winner selected by a panel of professional cartoonists for each theme, all awarded a £50 gift card prize.

What is a political cartoon?

Political cartoons are created by politically engaged professionals to depict commentary on current affairs. The cartoons often draw on themes of human rights and freedom of speech to bring readers into conversation surrounding topical events.

How can you take part?

Follow @Shoutout_ukofficial on Instagram to join the live events hosted by researchers and professional political cartoonists around the world. Join the lives each week to hear discussion from inspiring professionals and activists. For a chance to win a £50 prize, participate in the cartoon competition by submitting your entries uploaded by emailing lias@le.ac.uk with the subject line Cartoonathon Submission or by posting on Instagram with the hashtag #SOUKCartoonathon no later than Thursday 25 November 2021.
