Brave the no-shave for Movember

Once again, staff and students at the University are taking part in Movember to raise money for men’s health

In 2018, more than 70 students and staff at the University raised over £7,000 for Movember. To encourage participation we organised our first annual Facial Hair Competition - and we are now recruiting MoBros for the 2019 contest.

Taking part is simple. You have a final shave on 1 November and spend the next 30 days growing the most impressive moustache that you can, while asking your friends and family to sponsor you. You can take regular selfies to let people know how your face-fuzz is progressing.

Details of how to sign up for Movember are available on our Movember webpages, but it’s really simple. Add your own profile page at and join the University of Leicester challenge page.

Team moustache photo competition

This year, even if you’re not growing your own moustache, you can take part in Movember by entering the University’s team moustache photo competition. Get together with friends/colleagues and take a group photo of your best, most magnificent ‘taches. These could be real, fake, photoshopped – there are no limits.

Email the photo to Mike, UoL Moustache Co-ordinator ( or bring a printout along to the Moustache Parade and Prize-giving in the SU Square at midday on Friday 29 November. A £2 entry fee will add to the Movember fund-raising.

If you have any questions, or just want to let our Moustache Co-ordinator know that you've signed up, please contact Mike Simpson

After 30 November you will have a choice: keep the mo, shave it off or take things to the next level with Decembeard!
