Help new students to flourish when they first join the university

Want to make a difference whilst gaining recognised transferable skills? Why not join the university peer mentoring scheme, which covers all departments except for medicine, who already have their own scheme. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to pass on your knowledge to new students, possibly supporting them if they need it, whilst gaining accreditation for your Higher Education Achievement Report

You’ll be able to:

  • Use your knowledge and experience to help new students realise how exciting and enriching University life can be here at Leicester.
  • Become a vital component in the transition period for new students, whilst gaining recognised, transferable skills.
  • Pass on advice and tips about the best places to eat, visit, explore or study and where to find interesting things to do.
  • Make a difference in other peoples’ lives.

You will receive training on how to mentor this term and meet your mentor group in September.

We are also looking for lead mentors in each department (except medicine). They will be there to support the mentors in their department and help them with any issues. Each department’s lead mentor will also assist in improving engagement for the peer mentoring scheme. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership and event management skills.

If you have any questions, please email peermentoring@le.ac.uk or visit the peer mentoring scheme webpages.
