Sign up now for the Shakespeare Marathon, 18-22 June

In fact more than 80 characters have only one line, so if you’ve ever fancied playing 6th Citizen in Coriolanus at eight o’clock in the evening (“He has done nobly, and cannot go without any honest man's voice.”) or 2nd Pirate in Pericles at half past one in the morning (“A prize! A prize!”) – now is your chance.

There is no requirement to learn your role (though you can if you want to – and frankly should if you’re playing 2nd Pirate) or to wear a costume (though you can if you want to). All that is needed is enthusiasm and punctuality. This schedule (based on the previous Leicester Shakespearathon in 2000) gives the approximate start times of all the plays; social media during the week will enable participants to keep track of how far ahead or behind everything is.

The Shakespeare Marathon will be performed on the Podium in front of the Library with ‘curtain up’ at 7.00am on Monday and the finale expected for about 4.30pm on Friday. Pick a role and sign up now – and why not ask friends and colleagues to sponsor your performance in aid of the University’s Cardiovascular Research Centre Appeal.
