Leadership Training Opportunities

Inclusive Leadership Programmes for WTISSF Research Fellows

We recognise the need to build leadership for inclusion in academia and want to offer leadership programmes to all of our WTISSF fellows.

A key component of research training is developing research leadership skills. The recently piloted Researcher Leadership Programme (RLP) (run by the Doctoral College) draws from the established Vital Leadership Programme and offers a wide ranging programme to meet the needs of early career researchers.  This programme is open to all WTISSF fellows, the next programme runs in February 2019.

In addition, there are a range of leadership programmes that focus on supported leadership specifically for BME staff.  There is a well-documented under-representation of BME leaders in the UK Higher Education sector. In response to this shortage a BME leadership programme was launched in 2015. The programme is aimed at early career academics from BME backgrounds. This highly regarded Advance HE programme, https://www.lfhe.ac.uk/en/programmes-events/index.cfm, Diversifying Leadership will be offered alongside relevant RLP modules. We will fund any WTISSF fellow up to £1500 to participate in this external approved leadership programme. To apply for this scheme, please complete form B by 1 December 2018 to be eligible for registration on the February 2019 programme.

If you have any questions on either of these programmes or would like more details, please contact Anna Harding.
