Hours and Pay

Your typical hours of work will depend on the grade of your role as follows:

  • Grades One to Two: 37 hours per week
  • Grades Three to Five: 35 hours per week
  • Grades Six and above: indeterminate hours

All monthly paid members of staff are paid on the last bank working day of each month, directly to your appointed bank account. Weekly paid members of staff are paid every Friday, again directly to your appointed bank account.

Annual Leave

The annual leave entitlement of full time members of staff consists of 24 days of holiday, six university closure days, and the relevant public bank holidays. This is on a pro rata basis for part-time members of staff.

Probationary periods vary for different categories of staff but full details are provided here.

Pension

The University has a generous range of pension benefits. In line with the pensions auto enrolment legislation, the eligibility of new members of staff is automatically assessed and those eligible are enrolled into the appropriate pension. If you have any questions about your pension, please contact the Pensions Department. 

Flexible Working

The University will consider practical help, where staff find it difficult to balance domestic, family and working commitments, through flexible working arrangements.

Childcare Vouchers

Working parents may benefit from the University’s childcare voucher scheme which is administered through an external provider.

Gym Pass

New members of staff can take advantage of a seven-day free pass to the gym located on campus.
