Professor Mark Peel gives his own insight into what access, recruitment and transition mean for Leicester

In this special video interview with Professor Mark Peel, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Access, Recruitment and Transition tells in his own words what his new role at the University of Leicester means and how he sees it making an impact on the work of colleagues and the student experience.

He discusses how Leicester can improve upon what it already does well: widening participation, fostering social mobility and broadening access to university.

And he also gives his insight into the issues that concern him: What’s so important about having a fabulous first year at university? How do we ensure that students make a smooth transition from school or college into university? Questions very relevant at this point in the university year.

He discusses the love of teaching that lies at the root of his passion for improving the university experience for new students and for showcasing the good work already done at the university in this regard.
