Best practice and market insights shared at two day conference

Eight representatives from our international distance learning resource partners visited Leicester to take part in a two day conference.

The event, which coincided with Graduation Week, was arranged as a result of feedback received from our recruitment partners during last year’s Strategic Conversation which highlighted the value of partner networking and training opportunities.

During the event, which was held at College Court, staff from across the institution shared academic developments and market insights with the representatives who had travelled to Leicester from the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Hong Kong, Cyprus and Uganda.

In addition, the visiting guests shared examples of best practice with one another and had the opportunity to meet with academics from a range of subject areas including the Leicester Diabetes Centre, the Department of Mathematics and School of Museum Studies to provide enhanced insights about the markets in which they operate.

Feedback from the delegates was very positive, with all partners feeling that the event had not only improved their understanding of the context in which the University operates but also enhanced their relationship with Leicester too.

The International Office intend to organise a similar event later in the year to provide our full-time recruitment partners the opportunity to visit the University.

The event was co-organised by Helen Chauhan , Market Development Manager in the Strategic Marketing Office in Marketing and Student Recruitment with Dr Matthew Higgins, Co-Chair of the Distance and Flexible Learning Group,  and was primarily funded by the College of Social Science, Arts and Humanities. Significant support was also received from the School of Business.  As part of their visit, the guests were also able to attend the CSSAH graduation ceremony with some of their graduating DL students and receive a campus tour.
