The University is applying to become recognised as a University of Sanctuary, with your help, we can become recognised as an institution which improves the lives of those fleeing conflict.

You may have heard that the University is working with partners at Leicester City of Sanctuary so that we are recognised as a University of Sanctuary.

Already our English Language Teaching Unit is helping to equip refugees with the language skills which they need to be able to rebuild their lives in Leicester but we need to do more.

We are looking for more supporters of our University of Sanctuary initiative to champion the programme and help refugees in need. We are hoping to have contacts in all departments across the University.

If you would like to get involved with the project, please contact Pascale Roussel or Phil Horspool for more information. The University of Sanctuary initiative is also supporting the upcoming Derek Hole Lecture entitled 'Theology and Refugees' as well as the Journeys in Translation events.
