The government has pledged £1.5 billion for research to benefit developing countries.

The Government has pledged 0.7 per cent of UK Gross National Income to Official Development Assistance (ODA) – the OECD term for funds spent on the welfare and economic development of developing countries. This includes a new five-year £1.5 billion funding stream for ODA-compliant research.
