Volunteers required: University Undergraduate Open Days

Posted by ac652 at Jun 16, 2016 02:50 PM |

We need colleagues from Professional Services to help out on Open Days here at the University over the summer. The Undergraduate Open Days are of huge strategic importance to us, and are our chance to showcase the institution at its best and encourage applications.

Adequate internal staffing means we can prioritise Student Ambassadors to work on areas with high levels of student interaction, resulting in an excellent visitor experience.

We work in an incredibly competitive sector, and given that last year we were 1% down on applications, Open Days are even more critical to our success for the next cycle.

They are a fantastic opportunity to get an insight into the strengths of the University and to meet prospective students.

What it involves

You could be stewarding lecture theatres, manning an information desk, supervising bus tours, working up at Oadby Student Village or simply directing visitors around.  We have around 5,000 – 6,000 visitors on site on open days.

Do I get paid extra for working on an event?

No, there is no extra payment for these events.

Do I get time off after working on an event?

If the event takes place on a weekend, time off in lieu is at the discretion of your line manager.

Either way, you must have the agreement of your line manager to attend an event, regardless of when it takes place, before volunteering.

Dates 2016

  • Saturday 17 September – around 20 extra staff required
  • Saturday 15 October – around 15 extra staff required
