Universities Superannuation Scheme pensions are changing and to keep members informed about the changes USS have launched a new website.

This dedicated source of information is designed to guide both scheme members and employers through the changes to the scheme including:

  • The ending of final salary accrual from 1 April 2016
  • The introduction of career revalued benefits (CRB) for all members (up to a salary threshold)
  • The introduction of a new defined contribution (DC) section of the scheme, which may be new to many of you

The USS for the Future site contains detailed information about these changes including key dates, frequently asked questions and a detailed glossary to help support you understand the new section of the scheme and the new investment options and retirement choices that will become available to you when the new pension benefit arrangements are fully implemented.

The site also includes important downloadable factsheets covering such information as the approach to be taken in the period up to 1 April 2016 for new elections for added years AVCs and transfers in for members of the final salary section.

USS for the Future will be updated regularly and helpful tools – such as videos and modellers, will be made available over the coming months so please check back from time-to-time for the latest updates.

Please note that representatives from USS will also be visiting the University on Thursday 15 October 2015 to give a presentation on the changes to the Scheme. Details of the arrangements for attending the presentation will be published shortly.
