The University launches its first Research Impact Awards

We are delighted to launch the University of Leicester Research Impact Awards which will take place for the first time in June 2017.

The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the impact of Leicester’s leading research and recognise the hard work and dedication of our research staff.

The awards will also enhance the University’s reputation externally, supporting the development of relationships with our external partners – collaborators, funders, benefactors and research users.

Nominations are invited in the following five categories by 27 February 2017:

  • Best societal or cultural impact (achieved)
  • Best economic impact (achieved)
  • Best societal or cultural impact (potential)
  • Best economic impact (potential)
  • Best international impact (potential or achieved)

A judging panel chaired by the PVC for Research and Enterprise and including external assessors will choose the five category winners, which will be announced at an awards dinner on the evening of Tuesday, June 27 2017.

Nomination forms should be sent to your College Lead on Impact by 27 February 2017. Further information on categories and criteria, and nomination forms can be found here.

Commenting on the Awards, Professor Iain Gillespie, PVC for Research and Enterprise said: “Our University, academics and research staff have much to be proud of with a strong reputation for discovery and research that has a genuine impact on the wider world. These Awards will recognise their hard work, commitment and passion and will seek to strengthen the adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit already present in our research culture.
