This Tuesday, 10 October, people all around the globe will be celebrating and encouraging positive mental health, so come and join in the celebrations.

Visit the Students’ Union (SU) Queens Hall foyer between 11am and 3pm, and get involved with activities, help raise awareness and pick up tips on supporting yourself and others.

Leicester Talks is one of the many services provided to help students and staff get the support they need, and to help improve their mental health. It is an online list of support services, including University, SU, Student-led and Community services. A core function is for staff to be able to use it to signpost students to services.

You can visit the information pages on the Students' Union website and get clear information on the type of support available for different areas of need eg, from emotional and wellbeing to academic support. Click here to see the overview of these services and the areas they support.

The SU Support Services, including weekly term-time drop-in sessions (with mental and sexual health support featured), are listed in the timetable. This term two new sessions have been introduced:

Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)

The ISVA provides coordinated sexual and domestic violence advice to anyone who has experienced this at any time (ie, recently or historically).

  • The drop-in session runs on Thursdays from 10:30 – 13:30, from the Education Unit in the SU.

Those that can’t attend can either contact the ISVA directly on 07714134042 Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, or call the helpline at any time on 0116 2733 330.
