The G7 University conference will take place in Udine, Italy, later this month and two delegates from the University of Leicester will attend.

The G7 University Summit will take place on Thursday 29 and Wednesday 30 June. Following on from the 43rd G7 Leader’s summit that took place last month and saw leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the European Union meet in Italy; the G7 Universities conference is an opportunity for higher education institutions from those countries to discuss university education for all.

The G7 University Summit will consider the role of higher education in spreading democracy, developing global citizenship and academia’s gradual shift in focus from purely theoretical to solution-orientated discoveries. Elena Settimini, a student in our world-leading School of Museum Studies, will join panellists as a G7 Student for a round table discussion about global citizenship.

The University’s President and Vice-Chancellor will also attend the summit. Professor Paul Boyle will be discussing Universities and their role in shaping culture and society as well as acting as a G7 Rector in the summit’s Plenary Session.
