Nine members of staff from across the university are putting their best foot forward to raise money for Mind in the Leiden Marathon on 21 May.

The team – who come from Sports and Recreation, the Student Lifecycle Change Programme, Student Support Services and Student Experience – got involved after being contacted by Leiden University.

Melanie Wright, Senior Well-being Advisor, who organised the effort, said: “We’re a mixed team, from seasoned runners who have done several marathons to those who are attempting their first half marathon.

“It’s been great to bring staff from across the university together to raise money for such a worthy cause and we’re looking forward to pounding the streets of Holland in May.”

It’s not too late to join the team – either for the half or full marathon – just fill out the registration form on the marathon’s website.

You can help motivate the team by donating to Mind on their fundraising page. Not only will it make all the difference when the team hit the dreaded 20 mile barrier, your money will also help support those experiencing mental health problems across the country.
