Members of the Student Lifecycle Programme team spent time packing customer shopping just before Christmas, all in aid of local hospice charity Loros.

Six members of the team volunteered at M&S for the day packing customer shopping and collecting donations for Leicestershire hospice charity Loros, who provide free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers.

Angela Baxter organised the volunteering with Loros, and the team raised £1,382 for the charity, along with showcasing the role the University can play within the community.

Claire McAteer (pictured, middle front) said: "It was great fun and we met lots of people who’ve been impacted by the amazing work that Loros do. It was pretty knackering stuff being on your feet all day for a change but really rewarding. Loros were particularly grateful that we were all able to give our time. I think it’s a good example of UoL getting out there and contributing to the local community."

If you are interested in volunteering in the local community, you can find out more about how the University can help support you by taking a look at our volunteering policy. Thanks to the policy, we are able to give you paid leave of up to two equivalent working days per annum for specific types of volunteering. You can find out more about the policy on our webpages.
