Do you need help developing software to support your research? Then contact ReSET.

We are actively seeking new proposals for our Research Software Engineering Team (ReSET). ReSET is an internal service providing software engineering help for researchers.

Proposals may cover any aspect of software development which might include:

  • Adding new functionality to an existing application
  • Improving software performance
  • Developing new software
  • Porting existing software to a different language or system
  • Analysing and optimising multi-stage workflows

But of course if you have other ideas, or need a bespoke solution then please don’t hesitate to contact the team. For more information, or to discuss in person before submitting a proposal, please contact Jon Wakelin ( or Sam Cox (

Proposals should be submitted using the online application form. You may submit multiple proposals, as well as proposals for follow-on work for previously completed projects.

The popularity of the ReSET service means that new projects are unlikely to start until Q1 2018. However, please submit applications at any time as we may be able to accommodate projects before then.
