For further guidance or any queries staff may have, the Equality, Diversion and Inclusion (EDI) team will be holding a drop-in session on Wednesday 11 December, 11.30am – 1.30pm in the Fielding Johnson Building, Gimson Committee Room

As part of the university’s commitment to fairness, equality and inclusion in REF2021, eligible staff are encouraged to declare information, if applicable, about any individual circumstances that have impacted the ability to research productively throughout the REF period.

Declaring individual circumstances is both voluntary and confidential. It is strongly advised that staff do make a declaration, if there are eligible circumstances. Declarations can be submitted by completing the Declaration of Staff Circumstances form.

To find out more about what individual circumstances might be declared, why staff might wish to declare these, and how to make a declaration, see the University’s REF Code of Practice.

Staff can also request a confidential face-to-face meeting with one of the EDI team via the dedicated email or email the team direct if you have a query about the process.

The deadline for declaring individual circumstances and receiving applications is Wednesday 15 January 2020.  The EDI team strongly encourage staff to submit declarations as soon as possible.

Further details about qualifying circumstances and the tariffs for the defined reductions can be found in the University’s Code of Practice (pages 15-16), in appendix 7 Reductions for Staff Circumstances, and in the FAQ’s document.
