As part of One World Week, we welcome two successful local women to discuss the achievements of BME women

This special event has been organised by the Students’ Union and the unit for Diversty, Inclusion and Community Engagement to celebrate the diversity of students and staff on campus.

We will be welcoming Mehmooda Duke, who recently became the first female Asian president in Leicestershire Law Society's 155-year history and Rohini Corfield, whose career has focused on supporting diversity, inclusion, and promoting race equality in education and in local communities.

The discussion will be held in the Ken Edwards Lecture Theatre on Thursday 11 February at 6pm and will cover the success and obstacles still faced in the workplace by the women from BME communities.

Mehmooda and Rohini will also answer questions about their own journey through their chosen career field, and about the challenges they have faced along the way. They will also provide some advice for aspiring students on how to achieve their goals.

The discussion is part of One World Week, which aims to celebrate diversity by getting people together from inside and outside the University. Events vary from a language cafés to a mehndi workshop. Take a look at the One World Week webpage for more information.
