Prospective students launch themselves at Leicester Open Day

Thanks to all the staff and students who helped to welcome thousands of 2019 applicants to campus last week.

Mission Control in the marquee housed all our exhibiting departments and student services were on hand to answer questions from our future students. A bungee trampoline on the Fielding Johnson Lawn encouraged visitors to “Launch Yourself” at Leicester. And the BBQ, buns and beverages really added to a lively and relaxed atmosphere.

Our Open Day is the very first contact many of our students have with the university - and first impressions count! Thank you to every single person who gave their time to stand in the sunshine (or inside the tent!) and offer advice to prospective students. You really made the difference, and the quotes below show just how important your contributions were.

“A number of visitors commented on how good it was – I don’t think any visitor has ever made a point of saying anything like that to me before. One person, a former employee of the medical school, said ‘I’ve never seen an Open Day like this. It’s wonderful’.”

“The new boards really made the Open Day much more customer friendly. We also had a lot of comments about how our campus was more friendly than Nottingham.”

Take a look at the Facebook photo gallery now, and if you’d like to get involved in the next open day, please email schools@le.ac.uk to find out how.
