We are pleased to announce that Professor Jon Scott will take up the post of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience) following Professor Mark Peel’s appointment as Provost.

The main aim of this role is to foster an outstanding culture of teaching, learning and support that gives our students the best possible chance of success and helps fulfil the ambitions laid out in our forthcoming Strategic Plan.

Jon has been at the University since 1987 in a variety of roles, including Academic Director for the College of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology, and most recently serving as Academic Registrar and Professor of Bioscience Education. A National Teaching Fellow and UK Bioscience Teacher of the Year in 2011, he also has a strong background in quality assurance, has been elected to a number of national educational committees and has published extensively on pedagogical research.

He said: “I feel both humbled and very excited at taking on this role at a time of significant change both here at Leicester and nationally. The University is embarking on very significant changes to its overall strategy including its taught programmes and I look forward to working with all my colleagues across the Colleges to deliver a truly outstanding student experience.”

Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Paul Boyle said: “Jon brings such a range of relevant experience to this role that he is a natural fit. The University of Leicester is proud of its record on student experience and Jon will play a key role in improving this still further.”
