Plan-it Wild Halloween event

Come along to our community-focused Halloween event and find out more about our Brookfield food plot.

Staff and students are invited to join a special Halloween event on the 31 October at 1pm to be held at Brookfield Campus food plot. This is part of the University’s Plan-it Wild month of wildflower creation activities and is a partnership project between the University, Buglife (Urban Buzz project) and the student society Plan-it Change.

This is the perfect opportunity to come down and be introduced to the garden, learn a little bit about its history and find out more about food growing. The food plot is currently a solely voluntary project and relies on donated time by staff and students. Although we really value people who can give advice on how to grow food, we also appreciate casual hands with no experience who can donate their time doing easy 10 minute tasks. If you’re interested in finding out more how you can help on a longer term basis – casual or fixed, this is the time to visit.

Organised by the Social Impact Team, there will be plenty of fun activities taking place, including:

  • Potato harvesting (take your spuds home!)
  • Pumpkin soup making
  • Wildflower patch management
  • Spider hunt (not obligatory!)

Other potential activities are:

  • Pond decoration
  • Fence construction
  • Rosehip syrup making

This event is also open to members of the community and welcomes children, providing under 16s are accompanied by an adult.

You can find out more about the event on the Facebook page, and register to attend here.
