New Leicester Learning Institute management arrangements

In order to better co-ordinate and enhance learning and teaching support and help deliver our Learning Strategy, the Leicester Learning Institute is moving under the management of the University Librarian.

Following a review of portfolios, a number of benefits have been identified which would result from more closely aligning the LLI with the Library. These include bringing together student academic skills development more effectively, and better enabling the LLI to support the implementation of the Learning Strategy.

With effect from Monday 17 October 2016, the University Librarian, Caroline Taylor, will assume strategic oversight of the Leicester Learning Institute (LLI) from the Academic Registrar, Geoff Green.

Professor Jon Scott, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience) says: "Bringing LLI within the umbrella of the Library will enable closer co-ordination between the teams involved in delivering different aspects of learning and teaching support and so will provide a more effective means of addressing training needs and of delivering on the new Learning Strategy."

LLI will remain based at Princess Road East and there are no changes to staff roles and responsibilities. This change will build on the positive impact made by LLI since its strategic review 12 months ago, which will continue. Dr Frances Deepwell remains Director of the LLI, and College contacts remain unchanged as follows:

Caroline Smith, College of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology,, ext 6293

Nichola Gretton, College of Science and Engineering,, ext 3974

Alex Moseley, College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities,, ext 5749
