Mark Penny from IT Services has joined an elite group of IT practitioners to gain Commvault Master Class certification.

Mark is a Systems Specialist in the Infrastructure (Platform) Team. He manages the servers that run our databases (SAP, Sits and all the other systems), the Z Drive, X drive and the Enterprise Backup System. He also looks after the underlying server hardware that is running everything.

CommVault software is the way we look after our backed up data and protect the University’s data systems. It is a large and complex system and the CommVault Master Certification is a challenging achievement requiring in depth knowledge and experience.

Mark started working with Commvault in 2010. With around 4,000 staff and 22,000 students the University has over 400TB of data and 800 Virtual Machines and makes use of many of the advanced features of Commvault software.

As a result of attending the Master Class event Mark was able to take an in depth look at our systems through Commvault and make a number of changes to improve performance.

Mark Beach, CommVault’s Business Development Manager for Higher Education in Europe and the Middle East said: “We congratulate Mark on his Master Class achievement and thank him for the time and energy he has invested in Commvault.”
