Managing annual leave

At the start of the new annual leave year, we would like to remind line managers and members of staff about managing annual leave.

There may be unforeseen circumstances, whereby it is not possible for all leave entitlement to be taken by the end of the annual leave year, ie, 31 December.

The maximum number of allowable carry-over days should be no more than five days and these should normally be taken within the first three months of the following leave year.

It is good practice if carrying over annual leave to agree with your line manager/member of staff when the carried over leave will be taken.
