InnovateUK is the main UK government agency for funding productivity and economic growth by supporting businesses to develop and realise the potential of new ideas, including those from the UK’s world-class research base.

Since 2007, InnovateUK has committed over £1.8 billion to innovation, matched by a similar amount in partner and business funding. They have helped 8,000 organisations with projects estimated to add more than £16 billion to the UK economy and create nearly 70,000 jobs.

The InnovateUK Funder Group is chaired by Dr Stephan Reiff-Marganiec, Director of the Leicester Innovation Hub, with support from Paul Corazzo, Research & Enterprise Development Executive, College of Science and Engineering. InnovateUK at Leicester is also supported by Benoit Welch, Knowledge Transfer Executive.

The development of funder groups forms a core part of the college research strategy. One of the drivers for developing such groups is compliance with funders’ quality requirements and alignment with funders’ strategy.
