Holocaust Memorial Week

As a leading authority on Holocaust and Genocide Studies, we will be running a number of events in recognition of the day.

We are running two free public events to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Week.

City of Leicester Holocaust Memorial Day 2018

Sunday 28 January at 7pm Fraser Noble Hall, University Road

Organised around this year's theme, "The Power of Words", the programme includes an address by the Burton Centre's founding Director, Professor Aubrey Newman, a musical performance, and the Young Persons' Panel on Auschwitz.

The annual event is organised in co-operation with Leicester City Council, the Leicester Council of Faiths, and the University of Leicester's Stanley Burton Centre for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

Hannah Lewis: A Girl Surviving the Holocaust: A Testimony

Thursday 8 February 2018, 5.30-7pm, Bennett Lower Ground Floor Lecture Theatre 2

In this extraordinary survivor lecture, Hannah Lewis will recount her experiences growing up In Włodawa, Poland, where her relatively normal childhood was devastated by the Nazi occupation of Poland. Her testimony will feature her survival through the Second World War, and her understanding of how the Holocaust has impacted the contemporary world. A Q&A session will follow Hannah's testimony.
